The Feldenkrais Method is a powerful method of movement re-education. It teaches individuals easier options for movement through gentle exercise, and can greatly improve coordination and flexibility. This practice draws on the concept of the brain and nervous system controlling muscular activity, tension, movement and posture. The Feldenkrais Method seeks to undo the habits of the brain – learned earlier in life and through injury/illness – which determine the degree of discomfort and dis-ease felt in the body.
Feldenkrais teaches easier options for movement through gentle exercises. This method is useful for a variety of people with many different needs: freedom from pain, ability to function more easily, a clearer sense of self, recovery of movement after accidents, injuries, and strokes, reduction of awkwardness, improved posture, easier breathing, stress relief, and relaxation.
