Supervision Forms

The supervision I offer is fairly ‘hands off’ and is more ‘consultation’, which I believe is much more how supervision of independent, entrepreneurial counsellors should be. I expect my supervisees to keep their own records, make their own appointments and decide on how they would like their supervision with me to look, ie primary or whether they will seek consultation from several different sources.

Keeping a record of your work – the number of hours spent with clients, your supervisor, professional courses you’ve taken and books you’ve read and reflecting on what you do for self-care – is really important and something you need to organise and faithfully keep up to date. We can talk about the systems you choose for this in supervision.

Cost of sessions varies and when a counsellor is just starting out and has few clients, I start the cost of sessions at $85. As a counsellor becomes more confident and has more clients, I ask that they let me know what their fees are and that we match this.

There are also some basic documents that are necessary to our supervision relationship: a contract to clearly set out the limits and goals of our supervision and a counsellor evaluation to guide our work together. There are other documents, including those you may need in your practice and I will start by making these two available online here.
